Our Krakow based team works with some of the largest companies in the World to:

· Design and Build compliance programs, improving them, testing them and giving advice on how they can be improved in Europe and around the World

· Train on compliance areas like corruption, anti-trust/competition law/export controls, sanctions, money laundering, ethics, integrity, human rights and modern day slavery

· Help clients select business partners around Europe and advising them on the best way to reduce risk in engaging suppliers, resellers and joint venture partners

· Drafting reports on proposed business partners, doing background checks and investigative work to uncover misconduct

· Conducting audits and reviews of client subsidiaries or business partners in Europe and around the World conducting investigations of misconduct, specifically in the areas of corruption, sanctions, competition law and business ethics & integrity

Job Summary

As an Associate you will provide part of our professional services team based in Krakow. Our Krakow office provides services to our Europe and global clients for Europe issues. You will be an individual contributor, however will be working with our Research Analysts (Paralegal type roles) to help on projects and to assist with investigations.

Much of our work is project based. You could be engaged to help on a risk assessment for a company in Poland, or conduct an investigation in a European country. You might be asked to review some client policies and procedures or help a client build a new compliance program. You might lead a project to roll out training across Europe to a clients employees, build and deliver workshops or help with various compliance software implementations. For people that have the skills, are willing to help deliver projects, the sky is the limit.

A big piece of your role will be to support our Research Analysts that conduct research on our clients proposed third parties. Our due diligence business is a large and growing part of the Firm completing thousands of projects a month all around Europe.

Your role is to give guidance, instructions and direction to the Research Analysts in the Professional Services Team. You will be overseeing their work and coaching them on identifying and managing risks for our clients. You will be reviewing their work and assisting them to become more self-sufficient.

Key Tasks and Responsibilities

  • Develop specialized knowledge and manage a significant portion of a due diligence or client driven project.
  • Develop deep understanding of due diligence, research, analysis, data gathering, interviewing, legal, risk & compliance issues, budgeting, time management, communication with customers, and writing skills.
  • Develop firsthand knowledge of clients critical business issues, building client-management, problem-solving, and communications skills.
  • You will be given ownership of significant segments of complex client projects, as well as responsibility for simpler projects.
  • Design compliance communication and trainings
  • Provide support to internal sales as required on client projects and meet with clients regularly
  • Write and publish thought leadership articles and whitepapers in areas that support our business

Qualifications and Experience

  • Min. Bachelor university degree in Law
  • Preferred previous experience with a large law firm or preferably in-house (2-5 years)
  • Min. basic knowledge of corporate compliance regulatory frameworks including anticorruption/bribery, competition law and privacy/data protection, International Standards on Compliance
  • English: excellent written and oral communication (another European language such as: Russian, Spanish, French, German, Danish, Dutch are of great advantage)
  • Excellent writing and analysis skills, including the ability to summarise complex information clearly and concisely from another language into English
  • Strong editing and proofreading skills prior experience in reviewing juniors work is preferable
  • Knowledge of and interest in international affairs
  • Previous exposure to clients would be a strong advantage
  • Interest in working around Europe and semi-regular travel to visit clients outside of Poland
  • Previous experience in supporting, training and mentoring a team would be a plus
  • Ability to work well under pressure, meet deadlines and handle large volumes of work
